| Answers:
1. What
is IPPS?
The
Integrated Power Protection System, IPPS, (patented)
is a smart switching power supply with a built-in on-line
UPS that fits personal computers or workstations.
Under normal power conditions, it performs as an efficient
switching power supply. When the power is interrupted,
it provides about 7 minutes of back-up time to a computer
and a monitor. [Back]
2. Does
it meet the worldwide voltage and frequency standards?
The IPPS meets international voltage (115/230V)
and frequency (60/50Hz) standards. [Back]
3. What
is the size of IPPS?
Same as conventional ATX type switching power supply:
150 X 140 X 85 (W X D X H) mm. [Back]
4. Where
is the battery of IPPS?
It is inside the IPPS unit. [Back]
5. What
kind of battery is it?
It is a maintenance-free lead acid battery. [Back]
6. Where
is the inverter (UPS part) of IPPS?
It is inside the IPPS unit. [Back]
7. How
does the IPPS communicate with the CPU?
IPPS has a microprocessor inside to communicate
with the computer through the RS-232 serial port. [Back]
8.How
does the IPPS work in case of power failure?
IPPS provides backup power to the computer and monitor
for about 7 minutes. [Back]
9. Is
it easy to install the IPPS?
It is simple, just like installing an ordinary switching
power supply. [Back]
10. Does
the IPPS have the international safety approval?
The
IPPS will be compliant with the following safety approvals
before shipping out.
CSA
22.2 No. 234 Level 3
VDE 0805
UL 1950

11. How
will I know that there is a power failure?
In the event of a power failure, the IPPS will start
to back up the system instantaneously. An audible alarm
will continually sound. As the battery power becomes
weaker, the pitch of the alarm will increase. [Back]
12. What
is the target market for IPPS?
Targeting 90% of the desktop computers that do not
have power protection. [Back]
13. Does
IPPS come with any utility software?
Yes, it comes with a Windows based IPPSCommander
Lite Power Management System to monitor the overall
performance of the inverter and the battery. The software
automatically saves data and shuts down the system.
It provides a data log of the occurrences of spikes,
surges and power interruptions. [Back]
14. Apart
from the power back-up, are there any new features for
the IPPS?
IPPS uses a patented state-of-the-art inverter
module, which eliminates components in the switching
power supply. Amsdell's inverter is small in size and
very high in efficiency (~98%). It achieves its small
size and power by eliminating the bulky iron core that
is found in most traditional UPS devices. [Back]
15. What
is the difference between the traditional inverter and
the Amsdell's inverter?
Unlike
traditional inverter, Amsdell's breakthrough inverter
technology uses a minute and high frequency transformer
to replace the iron-core transformer.
Silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs) and a power MOSFET
are used to control the circuit. It also provides overload
and short-circuit protection as well as waveform modulation.
Amsdell's inverter is simple, more reliable and highly
efficient when compares with the traditional inverter.
